Donington Park 6 Hour Endurance Race – Equipe 6 Hour

A Thrilling Comeback at Donington Park – Connor Kay and the MCR Lotus Elan

The team at Midland Classic Restorations enjoyed an exhilarating weekend at the Donington Park National, competing in the 2025 Equipe 6 Hour endurance race. Our MCR-prepared Lotus Elan 26R was in action, joined by the Chevron at the classic event, and it certainly made an impression.

After a strong qualifying session, the Elan secured 8th overall and 5th in the Pro class. However, the race got off to a challenging start. Within just two laps, the car began to smoke, leading to a black-and-orange flag. A quick pit stop revealed that the catch tank had filled after it had been emptied, putting the team seven laps down from the lead.

What followed was a remarkable display of skill, determination, and strategy. Dom returned to the track and clawed back positions from stone-dead last to 15th over his two-hour stint, gaining around 20 places.

Ben Caisley then took the wheel and continued the charge, moving the car from 15th to an impressive 7th overall in his two hours behind the wheel.

Finally, Connor Kay closed out the race with a stunning performance in the final two hours. Demonstrating the full potential of the MCR-prepared Lotus Elan, he took the car from 7th to an incredible 3rd overall, also securing 3rd in the Pro class. The podium finish saw the team just behind touring car stars Andrew Jordan and James Dorlin, with Rory Butcher, Ben Tinkler, and WEC driver Ben Barker claiming first place.

The weekend was a testament to the preparation, skill, and resilience of the team, and a reminder of the incredible performance capabilities of classic race-prepared machinery. The MCR Lotus Elan once again proved that with the right preparation and expert handling, classic cars can compete at the very highest level.
