Brands Hatch Indy: A Weekend of Triumph for Midland Classic Restorations

The Brands Hatch Indy circuit was the setting for a thrilling weekend of racing, with Midland Classic Restorations fielding a strong contingent of classic cars in the Equip Classic Racing series. Here’s a look back at the highs and lows from both Saturday and Sunday’s races.

Saturday: A Strong Start + Some Setbacks

The red MGB qualified well, securing 16th position out of a competitive 24-car field. The car’s performance showed the care and attention it receives in our workshop despite tough competition on the track. The team was pleased with its consistency, especially as it continues to evolve.

Meanwhile, Dom Mooney, driving the Ashley, qualified in 11th but unfortunately had to retire early in the race due to an exhaust bracket failure. While it was a disappointing end to his race – it’s all part of the fun!

The Lotus Elan, piloted by Connor Kay, was in a class of its own. Qualifying in pole position, Connor’s performance on track was nothing short of exceptional. He took the race win by a commanding 13 seconds and set the fastest lap, capping off an impressive day for the team.

Sunday: Resilience & Redemption

Sunday’s racing brought more challenges, but also more success. Dom Mooney, now in the Ashley once again, qualified 9th and was up to 4th place in the early stages of the race. Unfortunately, an electrical cut-out left him a lap behind, and he finished the race in 14th. Despite the setback, Dom’s drive showed the determination and grit that Midland Classic Restorations is proud to represent.

The real highlight of the day, however, came from the Lotus Elan. Once again, the car showed its pace, qualifying on pole and racing to another dominant victory. Connor Kay took the win by an impressive 30-second margin and set yet another fastest lap, reinforcing the car’s reputation as a race-winning machine.

Looking Ahead: Building on Success

With one weekend of racing behind us, Midland Classic Restorations is more motivated than ever to keep pushing forward. Our focus on car preparation, attention to detail and relentless pursuit of performance will continue to drive us in the coming races.
