Midland Classic Restorations is expanding — and we’re looking for an experienced Classic Race Car Technician / Fabricator to join our growing team in Ombersley, Worcestershire.

Midland Classic Restorations (MCR) are specialists in classic car restoration and historic motorsport preparation. As a long-established and highly respected workshop, we provide a comprehensive range of services including:
- Full classic car restorations
- Engine and gearbox rebuilds
- General servicing and mechanical repairs
- Performance upgrades and race preparation
- In-house rolling road set-up and tuning
Historic racing remains a core focus of our business. From complete race car builds to trackside support at circuits across the UK and Europe, we prepare and run cars to the highest standards. Our reputation continues to grow both on and off the track — and demand for our specialist services has never been stronger.
To support this continued growth, we are now recruiting a talented and motivated technician to join the team.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Worcestershire-based workshop on a diverse range of marques including MG, Porsche, and a variety of unique and historic race cars.
The role is varied and hands-on, reflecting the broad scope of services we provide. Daily responsibilities include:
- Servicing and repair of classic road and race cars
- Engine building and performance set-up
- Metalwork and fabrication during restoration projects
- Supporting race preparation builds
- Occasional weekend race support at UK circuits
Working hours are 9:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, with additional weekend work available when supporting customers at race meetings.
Essential Requirements
We are looking for someone who combines technical ability with genuine enthusiasm for historic motorsport.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A clear passion for classic cars and racing
- A minimum of five years’ experience in classic car restoration
- Broad mechanical knowledge across multiple manufacturers
- Strong mechanical engineering ability, including panel beating, welding and fabrication
- Experience manufacturing precision parts with meticulous attention to detail
- A working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems (advantageous)
- The ability to work both independently and within a small team
- Strong communication skills when dealing with customers
- A full UK driving licence (trailer towing experience preferred)
Attention to detail and pride in workmanship are essential. The nature of historic race preparation demands precision, authenticity and professionalism at every stage.
